P-hydroxybenzaldehyde, also known as p-formaldehyde phenol, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (PHBA for short), molecular formula CH6O is a white crystalline powder with aroma. Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, alcohol and ether. The density of 116 ° C melting point sublimes under normal pressure without decomposition.

It can be used as a raw material to synthesize perfumes such as vanillin, syringaldehyde, anisole, anisaldehyde and raspberry ketone.
In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used for the synthesis of amoxicillin, benzalkonium bromide, p-hydroxy-hydroxy acid, scorpion, rhododendron, artificial gastrodia, esmolol and the like. Also used in fungicides, photo emulsifiers, nickel plating brighteners, etc. P-hydroxybenzaldehyde is an important fine organic chemical product widely used in the fields of pharmaceutical pesticides, perfumes, petrochemicals, etc., and plays an increasingly important role in the fields of synthetic drugs and liquid crystals with the development of science and technology.
